Mike has been practicing civil litigation in Colorado for 28 years in a wide variety of disciplines. He is licensed to practice law in the Colorado State Courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, has practiced in the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York, and has been accepted to and practiced in the U.S. Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Mike has a long history of working with insurance companies as counsel for both plaintiffs and defendants. His litigation experience includes bodily injury, wrongful death, property damage, construction defect, auto and homeowner liability, commercial general liability, professional negligence, breach of contract, bad faith breach of the insurance contract, insurance coverage disputes, declaratory judgment actions, toxic torts, environmental damage, employment discrimination, copyright and trademark infringement, real estate litigation, appellate law, and federal jurisdiction. Mike has had several cases before the Colorado Court of Appeals and Colorado Supreme Court and is well versed in the appeals process at the state and federal levels.

At the University of Denver, Sturm College of Law, in addition to obtaining a Juris Doctor in 1997, Mike pursued extracurricular activities including several Moot Court competitions (first place in appellate advocacy competition), contributor and issue editor for The Preventive Law Reporter, volunteer for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program), student attorney for the University of Denver Student Law Office, and research assistant for a constutional law professor on Section 1983 civil rights litigation. At the University of Iowa, Mike studied music composition and orchestration, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1994 with a major in piano performance and a minor in philosophy.

In his recreational time, Mike enjoys playing music with friends and bandmates as a multi-instrumentalist, hiking in the mountains and woods, kayaking on the lakes and reservoirs in Colorado, and spending time with his three daughters and family.
