Jade Delfin grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She has a varied breadth of experience in government and municipal defense, medical malpractice, employment law, torts, contracts, law enforcement defense, residential real property, creditor’s rights, trustee and conservatorships, civil rights, institutional reform, school law, disability rights, and child welfare. Her current practice includes civil defense litigation.
Prior to joining Resnick & Louis, Ms. Delfin defended a variety of clients in Section 1983 claims, medical malpractice, and torts in both state and federal court. She was also a children’s rights attorney for the State of New Mexico. Her work included advocacy, reviewing youth grievances, and assisting with the legislative session. She has represented and advised clients in compliance with formal consent decrees. Ms. Delfin has also represented national corporations, governmental entities, and individuals in the New Mexico State District Court, Bernalillo Metropolitan Court, tribal court, United States Bankruptcy Court for New Mexico, District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
A Regents Scholar at the University of New Mexico, Ms. Delfin received Bachelor of Education Degrees in Special Education and Elementary Education in 2005, with a certification in Teaching English Speakers of Other Languages. Ms. Delfin also earned a Master of Arts Degree in Special Education in 2007 from the University of New Mexico, with specializations in severe and multiple disabilities and social justice. Prior to attending law school, she taught Special Education, English Language Learners and General Education in the Albuquerque Public Schools.
During law school, Ms. Delfin received the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Education Law. She also served as Student Bar Association Secretary, AARP/VITA Certified Tax Preparation Volunteer, Tax Law Club Secretary, and Phi Alpha Delta Secretary. Ms. Delfin graduated early from the University of New Mexico School of Law in December 2011.
Ms. Delfin is currently admitted to practice in the State Bar of New Mexico, the United States District Court for the District of New Mexico, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
