Mark C. Phillips is a Partner in the Irvine office of Resnick & Louis, P.C. and has extensive experience in all levels of analysis and litigation involving first- and third-party insurance coverage (including personal and commercial lines), extra-contractual liability, SIU/EUOs, construction defect, catastrophic personal injury, professional liability, premises liability, product liability, trucking, employment, and business litigation matters, including trials, appeals, mediations, and arbitrations. Additionally, he has drafted a variety of transactional documents and provided advice for corporate clients.
While in law school, Mark was a law review editor as well as an honors instructor in research and writing. Prior to law school, Mark was a university instructor and established a latchkey program for 500 teens in his community.
As a former claims counsel at a major liability insurer, Mark has given workshops on claims handling, best practices, and emerging legal topics to the insurance industry. He has published law review articles and white papers on a variety of California law matters. He is rated AV-Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell. He served previously as a Temporary Judge hearing small claims appeals. His representative case is Alex R. Thomas v. Mutual Insurance Company, 98 Cal.App.4th 66 (2002) – finding of no coverage for a first-party property loss claim.
Mark is a third-generation Californian and native of Los Angeles. He likes to travel, read, and write, is an amateur ham radio operator, and is active in several community organizations.
