Melissa J. Roose is a Partner in the Las Vegas office of Resnick & Louis, P.C. where her practice focuses on catastrophic losses in matters with high liability exposure involving significant bodily injury and wrongful death claims in accidents often involving tractor-trailers and/or motorcycles. She has represented clients throughout Nevada, California and Arizona from the pre-litigation claim stage through resolution via settlement or trial. Melissa has over 20 years in practice with personal clients in the transportation and retail industries. She works closely with her clients to formulate the preferred case handling strategies from early resolution to a vigorous defense at trial. Her trucking and transportation practice ranges from single owner-operators to large corporate fleets nationwide, and her retail clients also have a national presence.
Melissa’s business matters have included defending various corporate entities in claims involving property and groundwater contamination, diminution in value, and corresponding medical and health ailments as well as allegations of exposure to toxic chemicals in occupational hazard contexts. Her defense of property, business and landowners often include corporate entities, individuals, employers and their employees, casinos, franchisees and franchisors and often involve negligent or inadequate security claims. Melissa also litigates employment and professional liability matters to include representing real estate brokers and appraisers commencing with the administrative proceedings through litigation. Her construction defect defense experience has included the defense of developers, general contractors, subcontractors and design professionals in single home cases to complex class actions. Melissa’s strict product liability matters often involve serious injuries, amputations, burns and/or permanent disabilities.
Melissa has successfully obtained dismissals of cases via pre-trial motions in both State and Federal Courts and has obtained excellent results while representing clients at mediation, arbitration and trial. She has represented clients at jury trials throughout the state of Nevada to include obtaining defense verdicts as lead counsel with no second chair.
