Erik R. Overlid is a Partner who splits his time between the Los Angeles office of Resnick & Louis, P.C. and anchoring the firm’s footprint in the Midwest. Erik’s practice focuses primarily on General Liability, Construction, Public Entity, and Insurance Coverage matters. Despite this focus, Erik has also developed a reputation among his clients as being the attorney they can trust to “figure it out” when they have an issue that doesn’t fit any of the ordinary molds. This has led to a breadth of experience, including the successful handling of matters involving cemetery and funeral home liability, wild animal bites, aviation crashes, tribal court actions, civil harassment, defamation, employment issues, private security liability, California Prop. 65 compliance, sport and recreational injuries, and false advertising/unfair trade practices claims.
In keeping with his professional roots in Los Angeles, Erik has also represented and advised clients in the entertainment industry – including recording artists, actors, and skilled artisans – in contract negotiations, litigation, and even navigating the complex rules that regulate the importation of exotic materials for their work. While his own artistic skill is limited, to put it mildly, helping truly talented individuals make their vision a reality is among the most rewarding work Erik has done.
