Lori Morton Cullman is a Partner in the Sacramento office of Resnick & Louis, PC and has extensive experience in insurance defense litigation including, bodily injury, products liability and premises liability. In addition to insurance defense litigation Lori also has extensive experience litigating matters involving employment law, Insurance coverage, construction defect litigation representing the developer and commercial catastrophic loss cases. She has had hundreds of first chair bench and jury trials and was a defense attorney in the first case to go to trial when trials resumed in Orange County after being stopped state-wide, due to the COVID Pandemic. Lori has also participated in countless mediations and UIM and UM Binding Arbitrations.
While working for a major defense firm, Lori was asked to present seminars to the local insurance company’s claims department on topics including defending a product liability action, proper claims handling involving product defect losses, good faith settlement offers, handling liens and subrogation v. contribution actions. She was also asked to assist in claims management with their Legal Services Program. Lori taught parttime at a local law school. The class was an evening class that met evening a week and was entitled Lawyering Skills.
Lori formed an in-house law firm for a small but growing insurance company. In addition to doing the hiring and supervising of the attorneys and staff for the in-house law firm Lori was also responsible for trying the complex litigation cases, management of the eventual two offices that were formed (one in Artesia and one in San Diego) but also reporting quarterly to the board of directors for the insurance company on the financials of the firm and status of litigated matters. In addition, Lori was responsible for attending quarterly meetings with the underwriting department for purposes of discussing risk management issues.
Lori has also worked with an in-house counsel program of a major insurance company. She handled a full case load of complex litigation matters. She also assisted in the day to day management of the office and provided regular educational seminars for the claims department.
Lori received her undergraduate degree from California State University Long Beach and earned her J.D. at Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. While in law school she clerked for several superior court judges at the Long Beach Superior Court drafting decisions in law and motion matters and bench trials.
Memberships include the State Bar of California, American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Orange County Bar Association and the Southern California Defense Counsel. Lori is licensed to practice law in the State of California, the United States District Court and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
